Dr Canvasser operated on me for a thoracic condition called “Empyema”. He went in and didn’t get all of the bacterial pus out of the pleural cavity causing me to re-enter a Las Vegas Hospital while recouperating. The surgeon here used robotic arms and was less invasive. They made sure they completed the job and put me on a month long IV PICC line treatment of powerful antibiotics. Canvasser didn’t set me up with any pain Mgmt or follow up antibiotics. I feel he was not familiar with this as well as improper in the post surgery handling of my situation. Marion hospital should have had a better team of staff to help me.
16 weeks ago my wife went OHS with Dr. Perry. I can’t say enough good things about him and the team during this challenging experience. I would like to mention my father was a surgeon for 35 years, he taught surgery and over saw surgery centers. Dr. Perry is the guy you want for this. He was confident, caring, communicative, direct (when we needed to hear what had to be said even though we didn’t want to hear it) and at no time did we not have full confidence in his ability or that of his team at French Hospital. I can’t express that enough-as a spouse you really want to feel like you are in the best hands possible and he exceeded in doing that. Post surgery he was on top of everything and when he could tell I was upset from the stress he came to see me in person and looked me in the eye reassuringly. Frankly, he cares about what he does and the people he’s helping. Follow ups were great, the post surgery team at French Hospital was beyond incredible. And everything basically went as expected (Note: there can be some slight variances in recovery and it’s just how it goes). Overall I can’t say enough how great he-they are. If you are worried going into OHS (which is normal) you should meet with Dr. Perry and choose him as your surgeon. You won’t regret it at all.

Dr. Perry replaced my Arotic and Mitral valve. He performed an excellent surgery and I have recovery from the surgery faster than I thought I would. Back to the gym after three months. I was very nervous to have this surgery but he was reassuring and made me feel at ease. He came to check on me almost everyday after the procedure (9 days) . Thank you Dr Perry

Aortic Valve Replacement
In my opinion, Dr Perry saved my life. I had a defective Aortic Valve that he replaced in February. I was just a year or two at the most of having to have a heart replacement. Many doctors that I have experienced just takes their occupation as just a job, Dr. Perry shows a calm but caring influence that I have never seen before. He is well respected with patients and nurses. He is truly a professional and what all doctors should strive to be. Thank you, Dr Perry
Great surgeon n nice person
Dr Perry saved my life. He did a successful triple bypass with a new mechanical valve. He had to reconstruct the root of my valve to get the valve to fit. Prior to surgery I had a cardiologist who blew me off for 3-4 years so the surgery should have been done a couple years sooner. I appreciate being saved after years of such bad care - I was lucky to get such a competent surgeon
Lifesaver and new friend
Dr. Paul Perry performed my Bypass and Aortic Valve surgery at French Hospital in San Luis Obispo. I had 5 blocked arteries and aortic stenosis. Dr. Perry explained the surgery to me before and I felt confident and secure going in. After the surgery, he visited me daily in the hospital with a smile and handshake. Most surgeons don't have a bedside manner like that. He is also great to deal with after when you go for a follow-up. His staff is pleasant and I was able to get appointments as needed. He did a great job saving my life and a beautiful job on the incisions on my chest and leg. The surgery was a success and I feel great. Thank you
Dr Freyaldenhoven was my heart surgeon for an emergency procedure. My wife, a cardiac nurse was very relieved when he walked in my ER room at 1:00 in the morning. She had a lot of prior experience with his patients and their positive outcomes. Later when I needed a follow-up procedure he was the first Doctor I consulted becaus eof his skill and my after excellent post operative care.
I was blessed to have had this professional on call at AG hospital when I suffered an acute episode 10 years ago. I am a primary care provider myself, and understood the precariousness of my state at that time and the uncomplicated recovery afterwards. In my opinion the man walks on water.
Extremely lucky
Dr Perry performed open heart surgery on my husband, a valve replacement and an aortic graft for an aneurysm. Everything he told us to expect was as he said, and the surgery was a success. He is a very good communicator, a very skilled experienced sugeon, and a very nice person. We are extremely lucky to have a heart surgeon as good as he is on the Central Coast. Four and a half months post surgery and my husband is doing very well, almost like it didn't happen. Thank you Dr. Perry.
My mother had a quadruple bypass at Mariam Hospital. Dr. Freyaldenhoven gave us a lot of confidence from the beginning to the end. The surgery was, of course, successful. We were impressed.
He was so great at explaining, in great detail, exactly how my surgery was going to go, what was involved, how I would feel, etc. He was polite, kind and reassuring during a very difficult time for me. He took time to answer any and all questions every step of the way. His surgical sites are healing and he did a great job of minimizing scarring.
I had open-heart surgery in early April to replace two heart valves and add a coronary bypass. The complex surgery apparently went smoothly. I credit my relatively quick recovery at age 81 to the great skill of the surgeon. I am glad I had him.
I had Carotid endarterectomy done to my right side and two months later the left side,he is an excellent surgeon and came highly recommended by other Doctors and nurses.He explains everything in detail. He also has a efficent work staff at his office.
